Ewan McGregor Spanks

I can’t really recommend the gloomy art-house film Young Adam – there are probably better ways to spend your time – but the movie does feature a rather aggressive spanking and sploshing scene between Ewan McGregor (Joe) and the lovely Emily Mortimer (Cathie).

Joe is an unmotivated writer who squanders his day making a big bowl of creamy, yellow custard while his girlfriend, Cathie, is out working to pay the bills. When rain-soaked Cathie arrives home to find Joe sitting on his ass, she is understandably less than pleased.

As Cathie strips out of her wet clothes she prods Joe about his career choice and his time management skills. Joe explodes into a rage and poor topless Cathie ends up wearing most of the custard, after which Joe beats her harshly with a bamboo rod and then squirts ketchup all over her back.

It’s a scene of non-consensual violence and humiliation (Secretary this is not), but if you want to see young Obi-Wan Kenobi getting his spank on (and occasionally appearing full-frontal), Young Adam is available through Netflix.

Spanking Art: Secret Identity

In yet another example of real life being stranger than fiction, the hardcover book Secret Identity: The Fetish Art of Superman’s Co-creator Joe Shuster reveals how a giant of American popular culture became involved with a series of underground BDSM publications called Nights of Horror.

Filled with illustrated tales of spanking, bondage, voyeurism and other taboo activities, these low-budget magazines were accused of inciting youth violence and eventually became the focus of a U.S. Supreme Court obscenity case.

It’s all very bizarre, which makes Secret Identity a great read. The book is also filled with dozens of classic BDSM illustrations, reproduced from the few surviving copies of Nights of Horror.

More London Tanner News

A few months back I mentioned that Ian of The London Tanners was once again crafting premier disciplinary implements for the adult spanking community.

Well now Ian has just launched a brand-new website for his wares and also posted a preview of his upcoming instructional video on straps and strapping.

I’ve been using Ian’s products for years and they are simply superb. You can view his video clip above or visit Ian’s website by clicking the banner below.

Miss Wilderspin’s Shrine

Towards the end of the 1997 film Preaching to the Perverted, an anti-BDSM politician (and former headmaster) is chased down into his assistant’s cellar by aggressive paparazzi.

As the minister lights the cellar’s candles, he discovers that his loyal Miss Wilderspin has built a little shrine to his headmaster days, complete with a vintage school desk and crook-handled cane.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, it’s sort of a lighthearted but positive look at the London S&M scene, featuring many actual BDSM practitioners as extras. You can view the trailer here if you’re interested.

Toolworks Chicago

Kindred spirit and spanking blogger True Switch just published a Q&A with a toymaker you may not have heard of, Mark at Toolworks Chicago. His company makes some very handsome items using non-traditional materials such as aluminum and stainless steel.

Apparently TS saw a pair of Toolworks mini floggers being used two-handed, Shaolin monk style, at a spanking party and decided to track the manufacturer down for an interview, which you can read here.

I’m not sure metal paddles are ideal for hitting, but chilled aluminum certainly is fun when you press it against a lady’s a red-hot bottom or her naked ribcage.

Hilarity ensues, often followed by some profanity. Is “sadistic bastard” a safe word?

Collapsible Spanking Bench

If you ever visited the original Colorado Spankers website, then you might remember the short step-by-step photo story I published on how to build a folding CP bench.

The design is uber-simple, so I won’t bother posting all the pictures again. First you wrap a 2” x 8” plank with foam and vinyl from the fabric store. (Tell the nice lady at the register that you’re reupholstering some old bar stools.)

Then attach a pair of Rugged Buddy folding sawhorse legs, which are available online from a number of vendors. The metal legs can support up to 1,000 pounds, so once they’re locked in the open position, you’ll have a very sturdy platform for upright spanking play — or whatever.

Best of all, the whole contraption folds up in about 10 seconds, so you can just slide it under the bed whenever the relatives pop by.

Caning on Network TV

I doubt anyone remembers Kingpin, the 2003 NBC mini-series about a Mexican drug lord and his family. Other than featuring Sheryl Lee, who played dead girl Laura Palmer on Twin Peaks, the only notable element of the show was the adult caning references in one episode.

Basically, the drug lord is working with an eccentric English chemist who likes caning the ladies. To keep business running smoothly, the drug lord’s brother hires a professional bottom to entertain the Englishman. Here’s how that conversation goes:

Woman: “So this guy, he knows how to handle a cane? I don’t want him hitting me in the wrong places.”

Man: “It seems like he knows what he’s doing. He’s English.”

Woman: “If he’s really good, who knows? I might even have an orgasm. Maybe two. It’s happened before.”

Unfortunately, the off-screen caning session does not go well, with the Englishman getting a knife in the chest after he puts his cigarette out in the working girl’s mouth.

Sorry Guv’nor. That’s what happens when you ignore a lady’s safe word on this side of the pond.
