What a Long, Strange Trip It’s Been

I’ve been a spankophile my entire life. As a kid I got kinky thrills reading the definitions of spanking and paddle in the big dictionary at school (while my classmates were using it to look up profanities). I was always fascinated by spanking references in books, comics and movies like True Grit and McLintock!

I have no idea where my interest originated, and growing up in an isolated small town during the pre-Internet days, I had limited opportunity to explore it. We couldn’t even get TV reception half the time, so most of my broadcast media came from the AM radio. (Where were Howard Stern and his RoboSpanker segments when I needed them?)

In high school I read about a dozen of the John Norman Gor novels, which were loaded with bondage and discipline references. Then one day I found a copy of Penthouse Variations, a little porn digest that had four or five first-person spanking stories in it. That was really intriguing, because it covered adult spanking in a sexual context.

I moved to the Denver area in my mid ‘20s and a few years later was lucky enough to discover a local spanking group, which helped nurture my kink tremendously. But it still took me until my mid ‘30s before I stopped wondering why I liked the things I liked and focused more on just exploring my interests responsibly.

(Maybe that’s a hallmark of maturity: Knowing and accepting thyself.)

To expand my horizons, I attended several of the exceptional spanking parties hosted by Shadow Lane, where I met new spanko friends from all over the country. Then in 2003, at the age of 37, I launched the original Colorado Spankers site, which would eventually attract over a million unique visitors worldwide.

The spanking culture has evolved significantly over the last several years, and I think I have too. I still don’t understand why I like spanking so much, but the fetish has taken me to interesting places and introduced me to amazing people. If humans are driven forward by our passions, then I suppose I’m lucky to have such a powerful engine.

I used to tell people, “I don’t have a sordid past, but I’m hoping for a sordid future.” Well, I certainly got my wish (but in a good way).

Thanks for visiting my kinky corner of the Web. Be well, have fun and play safe.
