Goodbye to the Beach

The end of an epic spanking party is always bittersweet, but the conclusion of Florida Moonshine’s 2010 Tropical Beach party was especially so, since it’s likely to be the group’s last big event. (Though FMS will continue holding smaller weekend parties.)

In terms of being a flat-out good time, Tropical Beach 2010 was the best spanking party I’ve ever attended — even if turnout was down somewhat from 2009. I heartily congratulate the hosts for organizing such a quality gathering and ending their four-year run on the highest possible note.

I believe this year’s FMS event actually benefited from having fewer attendees. With around 120 spankos registered, the party suites were busy, but not overcrowded. There were plenty of happy, good-natured folks to mingle with, a healthy mix of newcomers and old friends, and a positive mellow attitude seemed to permeate the entire event – possibly caused by that jar of actual moonshine I saw making the rounds.

This year’s party also marked the likely conclusion of my fetish game-show career.

For the three prior Tropical Beach parties, FMS had asked me to MC the after-dinner Spanking Trivia contest on Saturday night. After we wrapped up the 2009 competition, I asked Ian, “We’ve had a good run. Do you want to give Spanking Trivia a rest next year?”

To which he replied, “Nah man, let’s run it into the ground.” (A life philosophy I can get behind.)

So at this year’s FMS party, I presented the Crash and Burn edition of Spanking Trivia – streamlining the while thing and pushing it at a much faster pace. No lollygagging (or any other type of gagging).

Instead of 12 trivia teams, we limited it to seven. Instead of 50 questions, I arrived with only 30. Queries were posed, jokes cracked and spankings administered as quickly and efficiently as we could manage. The whole thing was short, fast, funny – and done in 40 minutes!

Thanks to Rad and Sandy for dishing out the spankings as our celebrity judges and congrats to Dave and Stacy for taking home the giant Spanking Trivia cup. (That will look great on the mantle – though you may need a vanilla cover story to explain what FMS is. Maybe Freemason Shuffleboard or something…)

Overall, Tropical Beach Party 2010 was a fantastic time, even though we never quite made it to the beach. My only regret is that that we won’t be able to repeat the whole spectacle next year.

As I said during the Trivia lead-in, it will be tragic if I never get to see some of those fine folks again, but if that turns out to be the case, I thank them all very much for being part of this crazy ride.
